Well, perhaps not. Perhaps I am being my not-so-usual-if-ever-hypochondriac self. What, with the self analyses of ailments and whatnot. However, I indeed have reason to believe that the part of my brain controlling sleep initiation has been severely fried due to lengthy periods of time spent in front of various shape/ size screens. I believe my weeks of sleep deprivation could may well be wholly attributed to the following: - my eyeballs have yet to be accustomed to the sudden influx of pixelated images - "television", "DVDs", and "Youtube" - and are thus not yet immune to the radiation, which I believe to be a detrimental factor in aforementioned brain-frying . I could safely say that one recent week's worth of my couch potatoing is equivalent to that spent in my last two years of "braindead time" during high school. - unemployment - it is not that I haven't tried (more than 30 times, curses!), it is not that I have no relevant know-how (hours on end behind a Woolworths counter sure is a valuable learning curve), nor is it that I possess the social graces of a fetus (no, that's a lie, I do) but because of the Catch-22 of the work force; everyone wants experience, yet no one has the balls to hire an inexperienced junior. Cunts. How does this contribute to my insomnia? Well, I suppose I have too much unused energy. - being single - well, this perhaps is entirely my fault, noted previously with my revelation of social ineptitude. ... Excuse me while I sojourn to slumber. At 5:18 a.m. Heck, my parents awoke before I even dreamt of a fabulous dinner date with Kate Lanphear. Orrrrrrr I COULD TAKE PHOTOS BEFORE SUNRISE AT HAWKESBURY RIVER WHERE THAT QUAINT LITTLE BOAT RESIDES AND GET WICKED GOOD LIGHTING. Or not. I'm definitely going to sleep now. Good morning.

wow very articulate ranting you got going there. to which i'm reading while completely bored at work. think you might actually be right about the staring at the screen bit, as i remember watching an episode of 'what's good for you' and if you're doing anything with a screen (whether it be computer, tv or otherwise) they said that the brain is tricked by the radiation its emitting or was it just the light that make the brain think it day time and shouldn't be sleeping. one of the two. i've found it difficult to sleep too for months and what worked for me to get to sleep(granted only once) was a bit of breathing excercises you would with yoga lying down and imaging something very peaceful, quiet and basically slowly drift to sleep. try that if you're still having issues. not that your asking for advice or anything just felt like helping. take it or totally chuck it away.

SLEEP IS FOR THE WEAK. and yeah, that's probably why i can fall asleep just about anywhere. anyway, insomnia could prove to be beneficial. maybe you could establish an underground fight club, or create a cult-like organization that trains itself as an army to bring down modern civilization. or develop a split personality that looks like brad pitt. ahh shit, too many fight club references in this comment. (the first rule of fight club, you do not talk about fight club) if that doesn't help well.........you can always try a warm glass of milk (:

I was actually thinking about Fight Club throughout my rant! haha I don't really like warm beverages, apart from coffee or chai latte. So I'm afraid warm milk is out of the question. I am picky like that.

great minds ;D actually i'm just thankful you got what i was referring to and i wasn't sounding like a complete psycho nutcase. :O i love a glass of warm milk! maybe i've just watched a clockwork orange too many times. for some reason i used to always have a cup of (extremely extremely extremely sweet) coffee, every night at around 12. and that always seemed to put me to sleep. i honestly don't know why.

I viddy that you are a fan of the old moloko.. My nadsat is awful, I'm afraid! Though I do love Clockwork Orange. I put 'horrorshow' as my year 12 jersey name. And now I am beginning to recall silly facts about the novel, like Alex deLarge's cell number 665321.. hmmm
