I'm learning to sew and I really wish I had started sooner! How many of  you sew? Can you recommend some good websites and shops? Lincraft in the city is sooo expensive! :/

I LOVE to sew, though im often told that sounds out of character for me. Ive been sewing since i was around 15, though havnt had the chance for a few years since i moved out of home and couldnt afford my own machine. Im getting one for chrissy from my dad though, so should be able to get started again. Spotlight is the best in my opinion, there is a big one at Birkinhead Point. Home yardage was great but it closed down :(

What type of things are you sewing?

Marrickville has a lot of fabrics stores that are affordable.

Oh actually that reminds me! Cabramatta has LOADS of cheap fabrics. I went out there and bought loads for my major design project during hsc. Maybe once i get my machine we could trek out there and go on a spree!

I have sewn and apron, a top and a dress. Absolute noob stuff though.  I bought a beginners pattern pack from here http://www.clotheslinehangout.com/ and it's really good for noobs like me!

Claah! I grew up out near Cabramatta! I have been thinking about doing a yum cha\fabric shopping trip for sure!!!!

I'm working in Kogarah this week and there is a good fabric shop here right now. Woo! I bought some dinosaur fabric! I'm going to make a dinosaur dress this weekend!
