"Following the success of the August 1st National Day of Action. A number of Lobby groups are comming together, to launch what will beknown as the National Year Action (NYA). The NYA promises to be the most vibrant and historic campaign this country has ever seen for the rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersexed (LGBTI) Australians.
"To kick of this campaign we will be holding Nationwide rallies in most capital cities around Australia on Saturday November 28th." "On Thursday November 26th, two days before the launch, theSenateCommittee reviewing Greens Senator Sarah Hanson-Young's MarriageEquality Amendment Bill, will release their report, which will make anumber of recommendations on whether or not same-sex couples should beallowed to marry in Australia."
It's looking very promising, I know a lot of people that are going. It would be awesome to get MASSIVE numbers across the country! With the ACT Civil Unions law still slightly up in the air with talk of "amendments", it would really help show how big support is for Equal Marriage.
I can't go (damn prior commitment) but might I humbly suggest you guys could have a meet-up for the same-sex marriage rally this Saturday. Choose somewhere to meet/have lunch then head over to Town Hall for the 1pm start. Details of the rally here www.equallove.info | |
