Hi guys! Have you ever felt that the Sydney lesbian scene was lacking in something? Well this is your chance to change all that! We need your help brain storming for a potential new girls party starting next year. We want to use your feedback to create the best lesbian night sydney has ever had! This party will be all about what YOU want!

Here are some questions to think about:

1. What is your favourite girls night in Sydney?

2. Is there anything you feel is lacking in the Sydney lesbian scene? Anything you feel we are missing?

3. Imagine your idea of the perfect night out. What would be the essential elements?

4. Think about the large scale girls nights like Moist or Cherry - What aspects do you love about these nights and what do you hate? Is there anything you would like to see changed or improved?

5. How would you feel about an interactive night, where you get to vote on the theme, music style, type of live acts, drink specials etc. that you would like to see at the next event? A night where you have control of what direction the night goes in - and which would evolve along with your wants/needs.

Your feedback is greatly appreciated!

Remember - If you dont want to post in the forums simply email sydneyqueergirls@hotmail.com and any details you give will be strictly confidential.

I'm new to the group but definitley not to the scene. One of my fave regular nights to head out with the girls is Bada Bing, The music rocks and we always have a blast tearing up the dance floor!

One thing I would love to see though, is a night with great music like this but with girly girls...lip stick, high heals and frocks!! Who would say no to this? As much as I love wearing my jeans and chucks, my friends and I enjoy frocking up and painting the town 'rainbow' and it'd be great to see a night where it's 'encouraged' to do the same :D

I so agree with Ez64.

My first experience at a gay club was very embarassing. I'm a massive girly girl, and did not realise that I was in a very small minority. So I rocked up to Snatch in a frock and felt so out of place. The entire club must have thought that I was straight - bring on more Femme chicks!

(Or naked ones - either way doesn't really bother me)

Sneakers are def. easier to dance in! I suppose some girls don't dress up because they don't wanna ruin their nice dresses and shoes? ;p

A femme girls night sounds great. One question though ... are the less-feminine girls allowed to erm, come in to see the menu? :P

Some thoughts for the new lesbian night: maybe a different theme for each night? e.g. one day can be hiphop/rnb, the next day house, the day after jazz, etc. OR it could be house/techno all week except for one night where it's a mix of other musical genres.

No hiphop or rnb! ewwww

Actually Jazz would be cool.

I like the idea of a lez night, but with less of the 'club scene'.

Like there could be a live jazz band, small lounge chairs, cocktail bar, a small menu (like bistro - quickly made type stuff). I don't know if such a thing is already in existence, but I think it would be nice.

Have you been to the Brass Monkey before? Maybe something like that, but lesbian style.

If someone out there with a lot of influence and moolah and could create a "ladies club" that'd be awesome. It'd be great to have a less 'club scene' HQ where you don't have to scream just to talk to someone. I love live jazz but my friends aren't into that sorta stuf ... Oh oh maybe it can have a 1950s theme? :D Or a building with different rooms where each room has different themes, like that one in Wynyard George St area. Adding a bit of class to the lesbian scene!

i love love LOVE that idea. Maybe if the meet up we have been talking about takes off i could start to do a monthly thing at a venue like that. Something like With The Girls but for a younger crowd.

Could even have a small cover charge that includes tapas or something... Have you ever been to madame fling flongs?

No, I haven't been to Madame Fling flongs. What's it all about?

I'm kinda new to the gay scene, so I'm not really familar with many of the various venues.

I love clubbing, but it's kinda hard to meet people there. It's so loud that you can never hold a conversation - and as my mother once said; "Never meet a man (Or woman) in the dark".

It's just a little cocktail bar on King Street in Newtown. It's not actually a gay venue so to speak.

I agree that it's hard to meet people in clubs. When I was new to the scene I actually made friends with a couple of girls online. I started going out with them on Wednesday nights in Newtown. I guess it all just happened from there.

You obviously already have some queer girly friend miss scarlet?

No I don't have many gay friends actually :(

It must be the Sutherland Shire mantra - most of our population is still in the closet.

I do have a couple of gay male friends, and one or two females - but it kinda sucks - I would like a nice group of girls to go clubbing with.

Oh wells, hopefully I will find a nice group of ladies sooner or later.

Let's hope the coming meet up works out well and maybe we can form a SQG group. :)

that would be really cool.. i have been searching for a femme night in syd... and have found that one doesnt exist but during my esearch have found a load of other girly girls that are really keen for a place to go and meet other femmes 2 ... i think i speak for alot of other femme girls when i say it can be quite intimidating on the scene to be one of the few femmes surrounded by a crowd of predominantly butch girls.....

i think we def need a night for femmes who are only into femmes... i for one find it a little disheartening to have only butch girls trying to pick me up when im just not attracted to them ... its kinda like being approached by guys n a straight bar.... if it were only femme chicks it would be so much easier...

I was just thinking, wouldn't it be a little hard to make a 'femme night'. I guess you could use advertising to attract the more femme audience, but I personally don't think it would be much of a hit.

I just visited the Pinkalicious website and it's not strictly for femmes/lipstick lesbians. They do have a "stylish" dress code :/

I agree we need more femmes. At this rate I might have to live overseas just to find the gal. -_-
