This should probably be in the Arts and Theatre whatever category, but oh well.

Anyway, as some/most of you know, I'm an acting student at the Australian Academy of Dramatic Art. We're in the process of rehearsing our first public play, The Laramie Project, which I thought I would open up an invitation to you guys as the subject matter could possibly be of interest.

The Laramie Project is a piece of verbatim theatre, based off interviews with townspeople surrounding the real-life events of a gay man being brutally beaten and murdered in the town of Laramie, Wyoming. Written and originally performed 10 years ago, The Laramie Project made a massive impact on gay rights and hate crime awareness, on a national and international front.

It is a beautiful and intense piece, and I'd love to invite you all to come see it. Unfortunately, most of our shows are already booked out (the play is being added to the NSW HSC reading list or something next year, so a lot of schools have booked to come see it) but we've added a 10am matinee and an 8pm show on the Saturday.

The dates are Wednesday 28 October, 8pm

Thurs 29, 10am and 8pm

Fri 30, 10am and 8pm

Sat 31, 10am and 8pm

and tickets can be booked through AIM (Australian Institute of Music) at 9219 5444 and are only $15 dollars. Orrrrrr you can contact me, I'm booking 10 tix for the Saturday night if people want to come then. Of course, I will be coming out and getting pissed of my face after. =]

Okay, I've rambled too much! It would be beyond amazing if some of you could make it. I really think it's a meaningful and moving and, most importantly, relevant piece of theatre.

Lots of love! xx

Maija, I've booked 10. I'm not sure of numbers right now but if you want one PM me and I'll keep you on the list. Besides the ten I've got for friends and whatnot, all of our shows are officially sold out! Exciting stuff. =]

Alright, I'm being awful at keeping people updated on how many tickets and whatnot are available!

At this point, as far as I'm aware, the people coming are as follows:

Charlie

Lou

Claire??

Jai

So I've got at least five other tickets right now. I'll be out for drinks afterwards at some point, you guys might want to meet up beforehand as the tickets are all under my name at the box office. Yes yes. First come first serve, and we can confirm the list.

Thanks so much guys. I'm so humbled that people want to come and support, so thank you!

Love AB.

Yay Claire. You make me a happy panda haha.

Alright, ladies, we're currently looking at:

Charlie

Claire

Lou

Jai

Jessie

A few more to go, hands up if you want them. A reminder - this is for next Saturday, the 31st, and is $15 per ticket. It is an amazing piece of theatre that, despite being from an event ten years old, remains relevant for not only the gay and lesbian community, but any community, anywhere. At least, in my opinion haha. =]

This is exciting. People want to come! Whee.

Okay, so the list is now looking something along the lines of...

Charlie

Lou

Jai

Jessie

B

Deb

Would be great to know final numbers by Wednesday-ish, just so I can let some other friends know if I have spare tickets left or not as the show is completely booked out for every performance! Also do let me know if you are heading in by yourself or something, and need directions to the Pilgrim Theatre or something to that extent. As the Saturday night is the closing show, I will be out with bells on getting smashed off my face so I do expect others to join in (if you're not dead from Moist the night before... but don't worry, I'll be there too!)

And now back to the joys of making sure all my lines are memorized... oh dear...
